1961 Jaguar C-Type by Proteus Cars Sold

A professional copy of the famous Le Mans winning Competition Sportscar by Proteus Cars Ltd. It is a precisely engineered modern interpretation of the 1950’s thouroughbred design using an original C-Type. (The C stands for competition) They are still being made, but a new one would set you back an awful lot more and it would lack the aged patina of this one which only comes with the passage of decades.

Built some 25 years ago hence the antique appearance with faded racing stickers and sun bleached upholstery, hard to tell from the real MacCoy.

Fitted with new recon 4.2 Jaguar engine by Pogsons Engineering (Jag Specialists) which provides exhilarating performance in a car so light with a suitable audible soundtrack to accompany, Jag Mk2 running gear. Laycock Overdrive, Opt passenger door. Would embellish any classic car collection.

Under 50 miles on the new engine! Textbook oil pressure as you would expect. Warning this car is not for the feint-hearted, it is frighteningly fast.

The body tub, doors and hood vent section are in alloy with boot and bonnet sides in GRP, but it looks like an all metal car.

Substantial recent upgrades, thousands spent! Very keenly priced.

Purchased by last owner in 1993 to take part in a Marathon Car Rally with other European classics along Route 66 Highway in the US. It still bears the aged Rally stickers which add to the car’s realism. The correspondence and bulky rally portfolio relating to the rally are still with car.

Unless you have around £3million smackers to spend on one of the 50 odd genuine C-Types, this car is as just about as close as you are going to get to the thrill of driving an original. Real crowd-puller too!

Comes with original Proteus Brochure and sales literature.

This short film, made by Jaguar at the time, shows the C-Type making history at Le Mans.
